MY STORY
I am Clémence Georges-Picot, a French textile artist and the founder of Clème, a Paris-based artistic practice centred around ribbons
With a background in Art, fashion and luxury management, I initially pursued a career in the luxury industry before finding my way back to creative practice
In 2025, while creating my first artwork, 'Écume des jours', I developed my own innovative technique, working with ribbons on their edge to create perspective, movement and foster their satin sheen
Through this technique, I seek to bring movement into stillness. I explore texture, perspective and light to create works that shift with the viewer’s position and evolve with changing light
My work explores the relationship between an artwork and the space it inhabits — creating pieces that become part of their surroundings while remaining in dialogue with those who encounter them
THE ART OF RIBBONING
My relationship with ribbons goes back much further than my artistic practice. For years, I carried a ribbon in my pocket as a doudou — a familiar source of comfort that has gradually become the foundation of my work
Soft, flexible and delicate to manipulate, ribbons offer endless possibilities for shaping and texture. Through experimentation, I have developed my own way of working with this material, transforming its natural fluidity into structured compositions
